My Great Aunt Betty

On Sunday, we got to have my Great Aunt Betty, Fauv's younger sister, over for dinner. I had only met Betty two times before now, and I don't know why it's taken us so long to have her over. She lives about an hour away. We were all excited to get to know her better (after all, we are family), and the kids couldn't wait for her to get here. Levi practiced a karaoke performance for the week leading up to this visit, and he pulled off the dancing part pretty well. I think his nerves got the best of him. Nevertheless, Aunt Betty was one welcome guest in our home. :)

Sulli could feel the excitement in the air!

The kids took to their Great, Great Aunt Betty right away. The boys bombarded her with questions while I finished making dinner.

We all enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner with Aunt Betty so we would have plenty of time to catch up! The boys were on their best behavior and really loved having our special visitor. They are already asking when she is coming back.

Sullivan figured out that she could be the center of attention and get lots of laughs if she put small pieces of cracker into her mouth and blew them out as hard as she could. This picture doesn't capture how truly funny she was. I know; I'll stop this naughty habit tomorrow. :)

Will really enjoyed picking Aunt Betty up at her home in Carlsbad and taking her home after dessert and coffee. They had great conversations.

GREAT big brother

Zane always wants to give "my baby girl" a kiss. He's such an amazing brother.

17 Months!

Oh my gracious... we will have an 18-month-old before we know it. That seems like such a big age! I neglected to get Sullivan bathed this morning, so she had the most unruly hair all day. Out of desperation, I put this ghastly metallic-blue band in it to get it out of her face, and it was a hit with her brothers. When Levi saw her, he exclaimed, "Mom, she's a gorgeous!" As you can see, Zane likes to pick her up and carry her every chance he gets.

Belle Fille

I love this little French dress and hat Mom got for Sulli. It has the most adorable sweater too, but we southern Californians are still experiencing 90-plus-degree days! It usually starts really cooling by the end of October, so she should be able to start wearing warmer clothes soon. Au revoir!

Field Trip

I took all four kids on a field trip with our small group last week. It was the "Albertson's Healthy Food Tour." The kids loved it. A really nice lady gave them a tour of several departments and aisles, while asking the kids thought-provoking questions about what makes healthful snacks and meals. I was with my little ones in the back, chatting with other moms, so I didn't hear all of it, but Zane and Titus said they had a great time. They especially enjoyed getting a "goody" bag (all health food) at the end. Later that evening, I had a special "Mom's night out" with 5 other gals from my small group. We enjoyed a great dinner at the Iron Wok, and it was fun getting to know some girls better. I was moved to a new group this year, which I wasn't thrilled about at first, but now I know the Lord did it to stretch me and put new people in my life (He always knows best, doesn't He??).

Look at ME!

My beautiful Mess

Sullivan has lots of lovely little hair accessories. The problem is that she won't leave them in very long. She pulls them out, attached, of course, to several silky strands of her pretty hair. So, she usually looks like this. I have no idea how she finds her way around the house. Here's a little update on this precious, scruffy-looking bundle: she still does not walk, though she can furniture-surf. She loves to eat most foods, as long as they are mashed up or in tiny pieces. She loves vegetables the most. She doesn't like to drink anything except for my milk and water. She ADORES her daddy and starts singing "Da...Da..." on our way down the stairs every morning. She can't wait for me to hand her over. She LOVES to sing songs and dance while we're singing. Her favorites are "Jesus Loves Me" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Every night at bedtime she has a heart-melting bedtime routine where she gives and receives numerous kisses from her brothers, laughing hysterically the whole time. She's so happy, she can hardly stand it (neither can her brothers, who think she hung the moon). Right before I put her in bed, she hugs me with her whole body so tight and kisses me profusely. Then, she pops right up to her feet in her crib and waves through the slats saying, "ni-ni." She is, quite possibly, the happiest, most joyfully content person I have ever met. Ever. As Zane likes to sing, "Sullivan Grace, Sullivan Grace, she's the prettiest girl all over the place. Yes she's sweet and yes she's smart; She is a GREAT WORK OF ART. Oh, our little cupcake, Sullivan Grace." (to the Spiderman tune)

Cool Dudes

Titus and Levi are in a sunglasses phase. I try not to laugh every time I see 'em wearing them.

I don't know why both boys feel the need to make mean faces when their sunglasses are on. They feel very tough and manly.

Squeaky clean

Here is our little doll in an adorable dress Mom and Dad got her in Santorini, Greece. She just got out of the bath tub, and if you think she LOOKS sweet, you should smell her! She's all ready to go to our friends' house for dinner.

Special little ladies

We went to Chad and Kristy Wood's house for dinner Friday night and had such a wonderful time. Their three girls are absolutely lovely, inside and out. Sullivan really enjoyed all of the special attention she received from them, as they were so sweet to her. Here she is with Hannah, who is going to be the most amazing Mommy one day.

Tiffany also took good care of our little one, carrying her around and sitting with her. Sullivan loves her too!

Liberty took a little rest in her doggie's bed. :)

Everybody dance, now!

The Wood girls turned on Libby's favorite Cheerleading music CD - very lively dance music. Well, obviously Libby was not the only one who wanted to feel the rhythm. I was dying laughing, watching these crazy boys of mine.

Teacher, I have a question!

Here are a few cute pictures of Sulli sitting on our school table. Thanks for the cute top, Nonnie!
