Our Little Echo

We have an echo in our house,
An echo (two) years old,
With dimpled cheek and wistful eyes,
And hair of sunny gold.

This little echo, soft and sweet,
Repeats what others say,
And trots about on tireless feet,
Up stairs and down, all day.

It makes us very careful not
To use a naughty word,
Lest in the echo's lisping tones,
It should again be heard.
Which should be such a dreadful thing,
As any one can see,
Who has an echo in his house,
A little (under) three.

Zane was reading one of his school books the other day and excitedly told me this is his favorite poem because, he said, "It's about Levi!"

What a precious poem and how true of your sweet echo. What touches my heart is how Zane made the application of the poem's words to his impressionable little brother. These are incredible boys with tender and precious hearts and now Zane has a little sister to protect as well....and my bet is that he will.
Feel my hugs...Nonnie

And I was beginning to think you were really a gifted poet!
