Father's Day, 2010

Father's Day was a major hiking day for our family. The boys are still talking about what a great adventure we had. These pictures are taken from our morning hike (at Hurkey Creek), which was only about 2-3 miles. It was getting pretty warm, so we decided we'd take off again in the afternoon to try to find the waterfall we heard about. We were sure it would be cooler then... after all, this is the mountains. Well, it wasn't, but we set out anyways. We were smart enough to bring water this time. We never found the waterfall, but we had gone so far, we were certain we should just keep going because the trail looped around back to camp... and was only 5.8 miles long. Oh my word! That was the longest 6 miles EVER!!! Even the dog kept lying down every time he found shade, and we'd have to drag him along. The trail was rocky, steep, slippery and HOT! Will carried Sulli until the last few miles when I had to carry her because Levi couldn't walk anymore. Will carried our poor little guy who looked like he was about to have a stroke, his face was so red. When we finally made it home, our little trailer never looked so good! But if you ask the boys what their favorite part of the trip was, they will tell you our 6-mile hike!

After cold showers (which felt surprisingly good after our hike), Will and I opened this wine we bought at Costco. We couldn't pass it up. It was worth every penny of the $20 it cost us; in fact, we're going to buy it again! Fabulous!

Will wanted to grill steaks with blue cheese for his big dinner, and they were amazing. We also grilled potatoes and onions and made really good salads. Our wine was perfect with this meal!

After dinner, the kids played while Will and I talked about what a great purchase this trailer was. And it might as well have been Mother's Day too with of all this love I was getting.

Will loved his Gap clothes (the kids and I loaded him up with shorts and shirts for summer) and all of his cards. It was fun to have a little party in our new trailer.

We ended our World's Best Dad celebration with a campfire and marshmallows to roast. The kids found some really wild roasting sticks on our hike!

Love you all....Nonnie
